We
are looking for a few bright peeps to help us change the
world... one project at a time. If you think you have what
it takes, we would love to hear from you. We currently have
two seats to fill:
Lead Communication Designer /
Communication Innovator
As our lead communication designer, you will have a variety
of responsibilities for helping Fit teams communicate effectively.
This includes:
- Presentations, books, posters, video, new-fangled hybrids,… all
forms of printed and electronic communication related to
client projects. This often requires you to synthesize understanding
of a new field (for example, jumping from medical products
one month to sustainable transportation the next), the insights
from research, and the cultural nuances of the client situation
to create just the right artifact or experience for the situation.
- Educational materials, printed and electronic
- Fit’s general communication and branding efforts:
web site, general communications, presentations, public research
publications, etc.
- Efforts to equip clients with new kinds of internal communication
tools and “communication
construction kits”
The mix of media is skewed toward the things that move easily
within corporations and spark the right conversations: PDFs,
presentations, short videos, printed posters, micro-sites,
and whatever little gems of cultural influence we can invent.
Two challenges we need you to help us with:
- Getting useful, actionable information to become part of
the work culture and mindset of our client teams and their
management
- Delivering two communication results at the
same time: the information that results from our research,
and “accurate empathy” – an
emotional connection to the people and situations we studied,
that isn’t just a case of
people projecting their own presuppositions onto their customers.
Lead Associate: Researcher /
Designer / Facilitator / Leader
Fit’s work involves long-term relationships with clients,
typically over a period of years. During this time we support
planning, nurture internal relationships and communications,
plan and conduct ethnographic research, and do whatever it
takes to help teams translate insights into something better
for people.
As Lead Associate, you will take responsibility for one or
more of these long-term client relationships. This will involve
you in all aspects of the work, and require you to be proactive
in thinking of ways to provide excellent service, leadership,
care and communication to your clients. You’ll also need
the ability to get up in front of people and mesmerize them
with your facilitation techniques and information delivery.
We are looking for someone who thrives on being in the limelight,
with attention to detail in every step of the work.
Our favorite candidate will have experience in research and
design as they are practiced in industry. The work is highly
collaborative; we seldom work alone. So you should have a preference
and capability for working on a team, but the capability to
lead and facilitate both collaboration and excellent client
service.
This position represents an opportunity to work shoulder-to-shoulder
with Fit’s founders, as we steer the growth and impact
of the firm on its clients and the world. Candidates should
have a strong track record, and a point of view about design,
nurturing organizational change, and client service.
